Sculptraâ„¢
Sculptra is a unique soft tissue filler that provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of sunken areas such as cheeks and temples. When placed just beneath the skin, it builds a scaffold of collagen that over time thickens and tightens the skin. Administered adeptly, Sculptra can also be utilized to lift sagging facial features. It is an excellent way to improve the contours of the face, simply restoring them to their original healthy condition. Sculptra is a product that works by stimulating the skin's own fibroblasts to produce a new collagen meshwork. Unlike other dermal fillers, Sculptra does not provide immediate results. It is a bio stimulant of your body's natural elements, those that are present more in early years and degrade as we age. Sculptra is a synthetic injectable material known as "poly-L-lactic acid." Poly-L-lactic acid is biocompatible (a material that does not harm the body) and biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body). Poly-L-lactic acid has been widely used for many years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants such as those used in the eye, and other types of implants. As you may know, lactic acid is a natural byproduct used in many metabolic processes. In liquid face lift treatments, we typically use Sculptra as the foundation to gently lift and sculpt the face. Then we combine other dermal fillers, BOTOX® Cosmetic and perhaps other treatment regimens to completely revitalize your face. Sculptra generally requires 3 to 5 treatments, each a few weeks apart, for optimal results. Treatment results vary from individual to individual; age is a factor, as well as your degree of photo-aging. The results are long lasting, typically up to 2 years or more. In most patients, touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect. In this way, you prolong results, thereby decreasing the cost. Sculptra treatments require a different injection technique than most other dermal fillers. To optimize the results of Sculptra, it is important to select a physician who has specific experience with Sculptra injections. Joan M. Hardt, M.D. is among the leading injectors of Sculptra in the United States. At Rejuvena, we do not charge for consultations.
