A: With tattoos, the number of treatments can vary widely depending upon the color and types of ink used in the tattoo, the depth of the inks, and your personal goals. We have removed amateur (“home made”) tattoos with a single treatment. Typically you will need at least 6 treatments to remove most of the tattoo. Deeply placed tattoos may require many more treatments for complete removal. Black (which sometimes appear as dark green or dark blue) and red inks are the most easily removed. Dr. Hardt or a member of her experienced staff will discuss the number of treatments for your particular condition and goals at your consultation.

A: Your tattoo will fade more with each treatment.

A: Most patients tolerate the procedure well. During and immediately following treatment, you will feel a hot sensation on the treated area. Dr. Hardt takes all measures possible to make removal of your tattoo less uncomfortable.

A: The treated area will be very red, and eventually will form an eschar (scab). After treatment, at the medical center, an ointment will be applied to the area and covered with a bandage. You will be instructed to apply an ointment called bacitracin (purchased at a retailer such as Wal Mart or Walgreens, or in our medical center) until it is completely healed.

A: The laser technology used at Rejuvena will minimize any scarring. The laser wavelength is specifically attracted to the pigment in the tattoo, and bypasses the pigment in your skin. Scarring of any kind (hypertrophic, or raised and hyper- or hypo- pigmentation) is the rare exception rather than the rule.

A: Pricing begins at $100 per treatment, and the average cost per treatment is $150. Package prices are available and decrease the cost per treatment.
