Thermage CPT

As seen on Oprah and Good Morning America!

Thermage is an FDA-approved, non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that tightens sagging skin, while it stimulates your skin to rebuild collagen in the treated area. Thermage CPT is the 3rd generation of the Thermage skin tightening systems. Thermage CPT allows greater tightening and more comfort than the previous Thermage systems.

Our skin is made up of three distinct layers: a visible outer layer on the surface called the epidermis, an underlayer beneath the surface called the dermis (made up of collagen and elastin fibers in a bed of hyaluronic acid), and an inner layer beneath the dermis called the subcutaneous layer, (also known as the fat layer).

When the collagen in these three layers breaks down due to sun exposure, tobacco use, genetic factors, or the normal aging process, your face begins to sag and wrinkles form. Naturally, treatments that work on the surface of the skin stimulate cell turnover and increase collagen production. However, to reach the deep dermis and subcutaneous level, unipolar radio-frequency energy is employed. The energy generated in the form of heat is driven to the deeper layers, where the tightening elements of the skin can be effected best.

Thermage tightens and renews your skin's collagen in all three layers with a unique monopolar, Capacitive Radiofrequency (CRF) technology that safely heats the deep under layer and the web of collagen in the inner layer, causing tightening, with improved tone and texture. Thermage’s improvements gradually become more noticeable for four to six months following treatment due to new collagen growth.

Thermage CPT may be used to help alleviate a double chin, tighten and lift eyelids, reduce sagging and créping skin below and around the eyes, as well as tightening skin on any area of the body. It is most frequently used to tighten skin of the face and neck, upper arms, abdomen and thighs.

For eye area procedures, Thermage smoothes and tightens skin, decreases wrinkles and hooding in the eye area, and reduces créping, without surgery. This procedure can help eliminate that tired, fatigued look. Plus, the smoother skin of your eyelids will make it easier to apply eye shadow and eyeliner.

For the chin and neck areas, Thermage can help lift jowls as it tightens the dermis around the chin and jaw area. Thermage can also help with the gobbler look as it tightens that area of the neck.

On the body, it is often used to tighten and reduce mid-sections (abdomen and “love handles”), thighs and knees, as well as the loose, flabby upper arms that almost every woman eventually experiences to some degree.

Results from Thermage may endure for years, depending on the original condition of your skin and what you do to care for your skin after your procedure. Side effects are mild and exceedingly rare. Downtime is minimal. Most patients resume their normal routine within a few hours.

Thermage was cleared by the FDA in 2002 for skin tightening. Today, through continual innovation, Thermage is the gold standard for skin tightening and contouring. The technology has more than 50 patents, and the system is in more than 2,300 medical practices in 80 countries. More than 500,000 Thermage treatments have been performed worldwide.
